The worst moving experience I have had in over a dozen moves including multiple apartments and homes. I have packed and moved myself and used various moving companies. This was absolutely the worst. I moved from Charleston to Nashville and had to put my belongings into storage for 3-4 months while my family of 6 found a new home. When we unloaded the storage units, we learned that the items had been packed into the units very poorly. There were multiple pieces of furniture broken and unusable. When our movers in Nashville began delivering to our home, the boxes packed by Johnson's were not even labeled. We had to open them to find out where to put them in our house, which meant we had to stand at the front door, open each box and then direct the mover's from there. Imagine our surprise when we found that Johnson's did not use any packing material in a large number of the boxes. Meaning, picture frames, lamps, china, glassware, etc was packed loosely in a box. Again, much of it broken and not replaceable. After completely moving everything into our home, we learned that the side rails of our bed weren't there. Not in my storage unit. No idea what happened to them. So, now I am buying another bed. A conservative estimate would be in the thousands to replace all of the damaged or broken items. When I contacted the owner, he repeatedly told me he had no way to make this right because once his group delivered the stuff to storage, it was no longer his responsibility. I don't believe that but it's his story. Anyone who cares about customer service would have made some effort, even a small gesture, to make the customer feel better about the experience. So if you plan to watch every box being packed, watch every box being loaded, watch every box be unloaded and want to take your chances with poor packing, this is the company for you. If you care at all about your belongings, have anything breakable, any antiques, I would not use Johnson's.
And I did call the office, multiple times and you said you couldn't help me.
Varian and his crew did an outstanding job. Hey were super efficient and organized and worked hard continuously over the course of some 10 hours total. In addition, a highly personable and flexible group. We recommend this company and crew highly.
Overall I had a good experience. My wife and I moved from North Charleston to summerville and the 5 guys that moved us were really personable and professional. They paid attention to detail and handled our items with care. The crew was great. They arrived on time and were in and out. The only issue was that all of the fees were not fully explained over the phone when the appointment was set up, but the actual price was still lower than what we were quoted by other companies we contacted so it worked out though it was more than we expected to pay.
We hired Johnson's to move us locally in Charleston, and they were great. I thought the guys were polite and extra careful with our things. The prices seemed very fair compared to other estimates. Awesome job, thank you!
Worse place to work. Never trust what they say it's not clime control. This place has drivers not legally able to drive the trucks. I've got a class A and when I found out the guy training me didn't have a driver's license I left. This place is very shade.
