I booked with my Wyndham's points and got a great deal. Rooms were updated and clean. It's an older motel but serves the peurpose of sleeping. Alot of construction workers there so shows good rates. I would recommend this hotel for the budget minded folks!
The reason for selecting one star is simply because there was not a lower option. We booked throuh Wyndham rewards app, usually this works out well. This was not one of those times. I have never been treated so poorly by front desk staff in all of my travels, combining that with how run down the facility is turned out to be a horrible experience. Not to be over the top but I board by dog at better and more friendly establishments!
I read a lot of reviews about this place before we booked it, but because of the solar eclipse we didn't have a lot of options and other hotels were way too expensive. So far the staff has been wonderful. The rooms are clean but definitely not very new or even decorated in this decade. Room size is actually kind of small, but not unmanageable with two adults and a nineteen-year-old. It's not luxury by any means, but it has not been terrible. It's also not a problem if you plan to spend most of your time outside seeing or doing things. The shower is small but does what you need it to do. Haven't had the breakfast yet, but there are so many options for food very near to the hotel it's not a huge problem to get something to eat.
The prices for good hotels in Charleston were out of our budget during the eclipse weekend, so this hotel looked OK and the price at $109 was still high, but better than $200+ elsewhere. This hotel was not anywhere I'd ever stay again, even at $20/night. Dirty-feeling room and outside area, sketchy people hanging around outside, "breakfast" was a broken waffle maker, bread, a bowl of bananas, and cereal from a dispenser in a tiny room off to the side of the check-in desk. Photos are just a snapshot of the examples of yuck. View from toilet, safe with stolen key and sign says the only existing key for this safe is located in the lock. And handle on the bathroom door...who really needs it to work? Front door chain-lock...backwards, but who's really noticing the functionality of extra security!?
Roach Bugs everywhere. Drug dealers in parking lot being very loud all night. Prostitutes knocking on the door asking if they can come in for $10. Rooms are very very nasty. I wouldn't let a dog off the street stay there. Needles in the parking lot. disgusting place.
