Immediately I was appalled at the customer service. I ended up having my own AAA get the car and take it back to Hertz.

Usually renting a car is so stressful and such a hassle for me, but I was 100% pleased with this experience. Returning the car was a breeze as well.

We arrived at 1 in the morning to find out that our Thrifty rental was no longer available as the 2 hour window had elapsed after our flight was delayed by 12 hours (I tried to call, it didn't connect, I wrote an email but they didn't answer - what's the point of me inputting my flight number if they don't even bother to track my flight to know I am arriving late???)

The reason I'm giving this location 5 stars is because the staff there are amazing and they don't deserve a bad rating, but the 1-800 number customer service, was pathetic, and have no knowledge of customer service or how to treat a "5 Star Gold Member" who rents more frequently than I use my own car.

We got stranded at the last minute in New York by our airline for the second trip in a row when our flight to Savannah was cancelled. We were able to find a late night flight to Charleston, SC getting in at 12:09am so that we could drive 2 hours to Savannah. Got to Hertz very tired and they told us we couldn't take the car we had booked because we didn't have a major credit card (we choose not to have them) and weren't actually flying out of Savannah airport, just picking up our car there. They had a rule change at that location in Jan 2017 and didn't tell anybody so we were forced to rent a car at twice the cost at the last minute. If you are going to rent a car from that airport don't rent from Hertz unless you have a major credit card.

It went from GREAT to BAD pretty quick

I rented the car this last Tuesday, I got 234 miles on the road and the Engine light came on along with the Oil Change & Filter maintenance message. I called Hertz and Tiffany told me "I see you're a 5 Star Gold member and it seems like someone just messed with the settings for oil change dates, and it just had an oil change, you'll be fine, just keep it until Tuesday and we'll check it when you return" I didn't feel good about this, but I was deep on the road at 2:30AM by then. We had the car for 3 days, and began to smell a burning smell on the car. I called Hertz back and told them, they said it was probably "just drips on hot mechanics" that are causing the smoke and smell, and that it'll be fine.

I got there a little late and Juanjnita the night manager waited for me she had a big smile got me out quick and she knows what she's doing. I can see her being a very important part of the Hertz team. I was very impressed got out quick car was nice all good.

We drove it back home this morning from PA to SC and when we got home, and unloaded the car, we really smelled the burnt smell and lots of smoke, so I called Hertz and told them I don't feel comfortable driving the car any longer. They said "the car is still driveable, so you should be able to drop it at a location, and if we have to tow it, the costs will be on you.

Anyway, this review is about Hertz. We were frantically trying to figure out how the heck we would get to Hilton Head Island so we went over to the Hertz desk and Khadejah was able to get us a car (CHEAP) with no hassle (she didn't try to up-sell us 100 different types of insurance), was friendly and super efficient - we were out of there happy with a rental car in 5 minutes.
