The service and organization at this location is the worst I have ever seen at a car rental location. I was here with my family on April 18, 2017. The wait inside to process your paperwork took over 1/2 hour for both Preferred and non-preferred customers. Then the wait outside for our car was at least another 1/2 hour. Employees could not keep track of which cars went to which customers, brought around cars that no one rented, then eventually resorted to driving the customers over to their far lot to find their cars. This took yet another 1/2 hour. The company's response to the feedback provided was dismissed in their response. Consider using another company when flying into Charleston. The other rental car agencies seemed to be able to process customers and deliver cars significantly faster.
Always loved the fact that the cars are right next to the terminal- but they seem to be changing their system and we had to wait quite a while for the car to come up from - somewhere-. Easiest drop off of any US airport is still in effect- overall Avis @ Charleston airport rocks- just work out that new pick -up system folks!
My handicapped mother arrived earlier than expected to the airport and picked her car up a little after 10:30am rather than 12:00 noon. When I made the reservation for her I told her she had to have the 24 hour rental back by Noon. She returned the car at 12:10; due to the line being long which would have still been within the 29 minute grace period. Due to the very strict 24 hour return rule I was charged double for a two day rental. After waiting through automatic telepromps for over 30 minutes and being transferred multiple times and being told a supervisor wasn't available. The best the highly trained senior customer service rep from Oklahoma would offer me when she returned my call was 50% back on the additional $114.00 charge. I'm a millennial, relatively educated and travels non-stop and I've always preferred Avis. I'm out now and never returning and would recommend everyone else does the same. Simple common sense and some human compassion would have prevented Avis from losing me as a customer and recommending to everyone I know and my corporate purchasing department to never use them again. How are they this big but so bad at being a compansioned purpose driven company?
Terrible customer service. We were on vacation and rented what I must say was a beautiful Dodge Charger. Unfortunately the car was saturated in cigarette smoke smell. We called the only phone number on the paperwork (6 times). Disconnected several times. Then promised a new car would be brought to the hotel to trade but instead a tow truck driver was sent to pick it up and leave us stranded. Then (6th call) the supervisor said he didn't have the authority to bring us a clean car and couldnt give me a number of who could help us.We finally called and left a voice message for the manager of the Avis at the airport location. We never received a return call. We made the decision not to let a stinky car ruin our vacation and dealt with the stench, circulating as much outside air as possible. Very disappointing.
Thanks to Amandalyn we were able to rent a car last minute and received an upgrade. The rental place across from Avis needed many forms of I.d. which I didn't bring with me. So we quickly turned around and went to Avid again. Very pleased with our service. Thanks so much Amandalyn. You are amazing!!!
