EXTREMELY LET DOWN WITH THERE SERVICE! had a radiator hose bust and all the antifreeze drained out so I had it towed that night to Carters (Friday night) they called me the following day witch was Saturday and it was a 30 dollar charge to find out where it was leaking from no big deal good price for a check well came back one of the hoses was busted and it was 130.35 for them to find the leak fix the hose and refill the radiator thought that was a very good price they had the car ready around 5 and it was clear that that was the only problem and he reassured me that tere was nothing else wrong with the lines they looked good so i picked it up on my way to work and not Evan 2 hours after running it I started smelling a strong oder of antifreeze looked down at the temp gauge and what do you know the car was starting to over heat thank god I was less than a min away from work pulled in to the parking lot and poped the hood and there's radiator fluid all over my engine my hose was leaking again! And there was a sound of Boling water in the lines looked it up on Google and it said that it can be caused from refilling the radiator and the air pocket are stuck in the lines and need to be burped out so I let the car sit up at my job till Monday morning (today) and called them at 7 am as soon as they opened explained what happen and one of the guys apologized for it and asked if I could leave the key and he would have the car brought in by 9 am so I left it in the case gap and went back home called up there at 1 to see if they got around to it yet and he told me that the car hasn't been moved yet that they will get to it after lunch.... and that's when I asked if I was getting charged for the tow and his response was maby don't have an extra 65 for a tow truck when I just paid 150 two for a tow so I told him I would find a way to get it there no problem and asked if I was gonna be charged another 30 for them to look for the Leake AGAIN! what do you know yes there is a charge even though the car was there getting the same exact thing done 36 hours ago and they didn't see that another line needed to be replaced this is by far a waste of my time and I will not have it taken back for them bc who know it might break down a 3rd time and there goes another 30 for inspection and what ever the cost is, there are several competitors in charleston no need to deal with slum mechanics twice I'll gladly take my business some where else this is not the place to go
Have had excellent service here twice so far, had a spark plug blow in an old Ford van, was told by other shops it would cost $600-$800 to repair. Carter & Son's repaired it for $200 including the coil pack. Also had an oil change on a Mercedes, have issues at other shops not putting enough oil in and not resetting the service monitor. They charged a very reasonable rate for a full synthetic oil change and did an excellent job.
