The food was great. I tried the brisket and it was really good. It took a long time to get our checks (30 minutes after we finished eating) and there was a credit card mixup. There were 8 of us so maybe that was too much to handle at 2pm on a Friday.
Great barbecue, fantastic service will always make me come back for another visit. If your looking for good southern barbecue it's difficult to beat Jim 'N Nick's. With their outstanding appetizers and wide entree, sandwich, and bbq plates. They consistently knock it out of the park.
The price seemed a bit on our high side at first but now it's an easy sell. We'll be back.
However, the smoked turkey was flavorful and not not dry and the BB ribs were delicious.
Service was okay but the actual building was super gross. The lamp shades, ceiling fans, etc were caked with dust. The floors in the bathroom were super sticky. And perhaps worst of all, we were seated directly under the a/c unit which dripped all over us and into our food. We didn't even finish the food. The server apologized and I totally understand its out of their control but she said it happens all the time. Maybe don't seat people there? They didn't charge me for my sandwich because it was wet. Also, we didn't get our biscuits until just before the check? It just seemed like a big mess from top to bottom.
We stopped in here on a whim while out shopping and the place was bustling. This was around 11-12ish, so be advised it's a hot lunch spot. The staff was very polite and professional, almost formal and we were seated immediately despite the heavy traffic. Our waitress was awesome. Let's get to the bottom line. The food here is ridiculously good. I picked up the brisket sandwich with onion rings and mac n'cheese. The brisket was melt in your mouth amazing and I had no desire to add sauce. It had a bit of mild bark too which is something BBQ places tend to neglect to add in sandwiches. The mac n'cheese...I can't explain it. I need that recipe. It's just mac and cheese but wow. The onion rings were fresh and dry, with no defects and really good breading. Towards the end of the meal they dropped off a basket of cheddar muffins, I think that's what they were. Think minimuffins with small bits of cheddar scattered, with a springy, non-crumbly texture that almost tasted like a mix of corn bread and waffle. I was full by the time I got around to these, but I could not stop enjoying them. The bride had the Carolina BBQ sandwich which she said was amazing with an accurate NC spicy vinegar sauce.
Service was decent.
In general the food is really good. My issues came from the brisket they gave me on my combo platter of their specialties. It was mostly fat... tasty fat, but still more fat than brisket on my plate. The collard greens were overly salty.
Someone else in our group ordered the hot wings and they were really spicy. To be honest, they were too spicy for anyone at the table to eat.
